The Santa Clause is this week’s movie. We chose it specifically because there are absolutely zero good Christmas movies available on the streaming services, and I’m pretty sure this proves that.
Despite some pretty solid performances from Tim Allen and David Krumholtz, this movie falls incredibly flat. The premise has a lot of promise, but the direction they decided to go is pretty baffling. Rather than spending screen time on Scott Calvin learning how to become Santa , how to use the Santa Magic and exploring the huge workshop at the North Pole, they thought that time would be better spent having Scott’s coworkers comment on how fat he’s gotten.
