Martin Scorsese’s psychological thriller Shutter Island is the movie we recast this week. Leonardo Dicaprio stars in this mind bending story of Teddy Daniels, a federal marshall tasked with investigating Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally insane, getting to the bottom of the case of the missing prisoner patient Rachel Solando. Mark Ruffalo plays his partner/doctor. Along the way we find out that this whole “case” was a put on by Dr. Cawley (Ben Kingsley), in an attempt to shock him into admitting that he was also a prisoner patient at the facility and that he had killed his wife (Michelle Williams). The Recasting Couch Ep. 64: Sneakers

Sneakers

We’ve got another heist movie on tap this week with the 1992 surprise success, Sneakers. Honestly, I can’t really understand how this made as much money as it did. Robert Redford was significantly passed his prime and coasting off of his innate charisma, Dan Aykroyd provides zero comic relief, River Phoenix is a a weird spastic guy that is unlike pretty much any role he’s ever played, and Sidney Poitier is a smooth muthafucker as usual.
