The Recasting Couch Ep. 21: The Devil’s Advocate

Devils Advocate

In an attempt to get into the halloween season, we are recasting The Devil’s Advocate this week. This movie is a fun Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino vehicle that pretty much just let the two of them do what they do best: Keanu – playing the savior role, Al – Yelling as much as possible. Although it’s Charlize Theron who completely steals the show even with a shaky southern accent. There are also some really great supporting performances in this movie as well. Tamara Tunie and Debra Monk specifically add a lot to this film.

The Recasting Couch Ep. 7: Contact

I think Contact was maybe the first alien movie I’ve ever seen where the aliens aren’t actually shown. In retrospect, that was probably a good call, because aliens in sci-fi movies don’t tend to age particularly well. The only ones that do are ones that are only shown in flashes and shadows. This was also the first movie that I remember where it represents first contact with aliens to be something more than just aliens hellbent on eradicating humans from the planet.
